Main House

It is often said that the Kitchen is the heart of the home and Clare Island Lighthouse is no different. Guests are welcome to wander into the Kitchen, enjoy its warmth and savour the aroma of freshly baked bread or biscuits. A sample taste might even be on offer! If informal meals are your preference, you are welcome to eat at the refectory-style table in the Kitchen. Otherwise, meals are served in the more formal, but no less comfortable Diningroom on the mahogany dining table. Leading from the Drawing Room is the Dining Room cum Library which boasts several well stocked bookshelves.  A lovely well-seasoned piano adds to the “bygone days” atmosphere of this room. The range of books is both extensive and eclectic so all tastes are catered for. Guests will find plenty of Clare Island, and indeed Lighthouse-related volumes here, as well as good choice of novels and non-fiction tomes. Guests are welcome to browse and borrow at their leisure and enjoy traditional board games or just take time out to rest and relax.
