Lighthouse Keepers traditionally brought enough dried goods to keep them alive for the two months of their posting. This Lighthouse was considered a luxury posting as there was a small shop on the island. These days there are not such privations: The small shop is still here, as well as one of the country’s best known organic salmon fish farms, an organic vegetable farm and local fishermen. Cooking on an island has always provided a challenge and we take great joy in adding the magical ingredient of passion to all our food.
On arrival at the Lighthouse, fresh scones, tea or locally roasted coffee await you at the big old pitch pine table in our cosy kitchen with a view out to Achill Beag.
We are passionate about using Irish ingredients whenever possible. In the evening we serve our guests a set menu which comprises of wholesome food in our elegant dining room. Our guests dine together as we believe the table to be the soul of an evening at the lighthouse, where stories are shared and friendships are made.
In the morning, a large healthy breakfast awaits you with freshly roasted coffee or tea. Enjoy at your leisure the day is yours.
