Jackie O’Grady

Just off the main hallway on the ground floor, the Jackie O’Grady Room is named after the last Lighthouse Keeper on Clare Island, who had the dubious honour of switching off the light for the very last time in 1965. Mr O’Grady still has a holiday house on Clare Island and is a regular visitor. His signed memoir “The Green Road to the Lighthouse” has pride of place in this room and makes interesting reading for guests staying here.

This is a snug double room which is on the same level as the guest sitting and dining rooms as well as the main kitchen. It has wooden flooring with underfloor heating and a wood burning stove. Old-Irish pine furniture gives a very traditional feel to the Jackie O'Grady room.
