Jackie O’Grady

Just off the main hallway on the ground floor, the Jackie O’Grady Room is named after the last Lighthouse Keeper on Clare Island. Mr O’Grady had the solemn honour of switching off the light for the very last time in 1965. He still has a holiday house on Clare Island and is a regular visitor. His signed memoir “The Green Road to the Lighthouse” has pride of place in this room and will transport you back to tougher times at The Lighthouse.

This is a snug double room, on the same level as the Drawing room, Dining room and Kitchen. It has wooden flooring with under floor heating and a wood burning stove. Old-Irish pine furniture lend an air of comfortable, authenticity.

If you wish the stove to be lit, please inform one of our staff.
